Our Story & Vision
The Space & Philosophy
Located at Studio Lux in Bonn, Thaalam is a space for mindful movement, art, and celebration. It is designed for anyone seeking a brief pause from the fast pace of daily life. Our goal is simple: to create an inclusive, pressure-free environment where every class leaves your mind feeling lighter while you discover something new.
You do not need to perform or be perfect. You simply need to arrive, move, sweat, and let the joy of dance fill your heart before the new week begins. We embrace a vibrant mix of dance forms drawn from all across India—from classical precision to the expressive energy of Bollywood.
Class Structure
The 3-Step Process
Every 60-minute session is thoughtfully structured to care for both your body and mind.
Centering
Drawing from traditional yoga practices, we begin by grounding ourselves, warming up the muscles, and focusing on breath.
Foundation
By breaking down hand mudras and footwork step-by-step, you build an authentic foundation in Indian rhythmic movement.
Choreography
The session culminates in a vibrant, joyful routine. We encourage you to move consciously, surprise yourself, and let go of worries.
Community
Who is Thaalam For?

Founder & Artistic Director
Meet Aiswarya
With a dance journey spanning over two decades, Aiswarya's roots are deeply planted in the classical traditions of Kerala, India. She began her formal training at the age of five in Bharatanatyam and Mohiniyattam in Kochi, India.
Over the years, her practice expanded to combine the discipline of classical arts with the vibrant celebratory energy of semi-classical and Bollywood dance.
Currently serving as a Bollywood dance instructor at the University of Bonn, Aiswarya created Thaalam to offer a safe, warm environment where the joy of dance is shared without the pressure of perfection.
